ELEVATE. CONNECT. SUCCEED.

The Student Achievement Guided by Experience (SAGE) Scholars Program was founded in 1999 by the University of California Office of the President to strengthen the pipeline of talented and diverse students entering the workforce and to support them during their undergraduate careers. The SAGE Scholars Program provides undergraduates who have significant financial need with the tools to invest in their future through leadership training, career exploration, graduate school planning, and access to internship and scholarship opportunities.

SAGE attracts high-achieving undergraduates from all academic disciplines across campus. As a two-year program, SAGE is open to UCI students in the last two years of their undergraduate studies. Read below to learn about how our program components support the diverse career trajectories of our scholars.

Workforce & Career Readiness

SAGE strives to connect students with year-long, paid internship positions with sponsor corporations or non-profit organizations. Additionally, SAGE scholars have the opportunity to receive a needs-based scholarship of up to $8000 per year.

Leadership & Professional Development

Specialized classes to enhance scholars’ leadership, academic and professional skills. Receive one-on-one career advising that targets the job search process, interviewing skills, and graduate school preparation.

Service Learning

SAGE Scholars participate in community service projects across the UC Irvine campus and in the local Orange County area. The purpose of the SAGE sponsored service learning projects is to instill a culture of civic responsibility among scholars.
